with a little bit of creativity and design sense, you can easily turn them into kurteye for summer or scarfs.

they can also be used to create cushion covers or even small curtain panels.

has anyone done this?

I collect all the duppataye from new unstitched suits as I have no need for them since I wear hijab, and make either tops for myself, outfits for my little niece, or I send them to my SIL in India for her to make tops....

Just this weekend, I went to Blackburn and bought the most gorgeous black and silver suit - but it had a huge duppata as the lady gave me extra as there wasn't much left on the roll......I'm sendding it to SIL in India to make a top.

My husband loves this as he says it saves him money!!!!!

but wouldnt tht be like weirD? u'll have a pair of two same shirts..one with shalwar kameez and then one just as a plain top?

i have made a kurti out of a dupatta also, turned out really good...

anything can be made from old dupattas, frocks for little girls, cusion pillow covers etc...i have planned making lots of other stuff like that several times, but have only actually made that kurti so far due to laziness or whatever busy-ness.

me too. i know, if u can really be creative, u could make the best kurteye and they are not hard to stich at home too. it is a very delightful creative work.

my mom makes gao takie with the old duppatas and suits. and usually make a pata pati style cover from the fancy jamawar duppatas.

Niksik, dont worry we will learn it trial and error. i am a proud owner of a singer machine. all stitches are preset. cutting to fit size i already learnt. i cut like i would ut construction paper with marks on the outline.
i just dont like loading the dhaga. :>
