Damn, I just read somewhere that the exact opposite is true for LCD monitors meaning you save more if you use a white screen.

White, or a shade very close to white, is the least power-consuming color on backlit LCDs, because the crystal diodes, in their neutral, zero voltage state, let all the light from the backlight through. The darker a pixel's color, the more the crystal molecule at that pixel has to twist to refract the light, and at black it has to let none of the light through, which requires maximum voltage. An all-black screen is by far the worst power-draw on an LCD monitor.
