usb shortcuts

i have big problem in my computer and i dont want to reinstall window. when i put USB. my com showing short cuts. i try del*.lnk command and Attrib . -r -h -s /s /d and this command but problem still exist.can anybody tell me any software or any other easy way?

so just to understand, when you plugin USB and goto USB directory from “My computer”, its showing links there only? Can you check the properties of links? Size etc just to make sure there are no actually files. Also make sure that there are no hidden files

Thank you Sid....i check everything..there is no problem but the problem is only showing shortcuts.. i delete soo many times. but again shortcuts coms to USB...

It looks like some virus. You might have seen that old virus which creates an exe extension file having icon of a folder. It uses name name of the folder it hides. So the .exe file looks like the intended folder and when we double click on the exe file, it opens the intended folder in the same window or a new window. If your computer is infected with a virus that uses old techniques then you can follow some steps to indentify and remove it. Installing or upgrading antivirus is always a good option.

  1. Go to task manager by control+alter+delete
  2. Click on processes. Take a screenshot of all processes running by print screen button on keyboard.
  3. Now insert pendrive. Repeat steps 1 and 2. If the virus loads another program then a new process with suspecious name will appear or under the guise of a windows process.
  4. If a new unusual process appears in tansk manager's process bar then right click on that process and click on "End process tree", don't worry if the process is a windows process, your computer is at no risk as the process will reappeare soon or as soon as you reboot your computer. Now eject and reinsert the pendrive (I advise you to format the pendrive from an uninfected computer to rule out the possiblity that virus had copied itself or replicating cofe into pendrive and autoruns when inserted in a conputer).
  5. If that file "link" problem has solved then it was due to the virus. The virus found in this way can be easily removed. Such viruses make (write) entry in windows registry or use some other way to load into memory and are always running. If thats a virus we can try to remove it manually or antivirus shoftware is always a good choice.

that's a Flashdrive virus... you can remove it by Hiren Boot or Window security essential.. if you dont have any then you must install these 2 softwares at the same time, (AVG or Avira) and Kaspersky antivirus.. then let them clean your PC.. and after that, attach flashdrive and go to My Computer to format it...
