i’ve got a USB card reader/writer that i use to upload songs for my 1GB mirco SD that i use in my cell phone.
recently, whenever i put the usb into my computer, it fails to locate it. usually once i’ve put it in, it’ll give me a pop up of options asking what i’d like to do. open the folder, use media player, etc. but now nothing pops up.
even if i go to ‘My Computer’ and search for the USB there..it’s not available.
It’s possible it just failed, but to be sure I’d try plugging it into another computer to see if it’s recognized and usable…it’s worth a few seconds.
One other possibility to consider…the drive may just be hidden in My Computer, but still accessible. To check, click here to download Microsoft’s Tweak UI. Once running, expand My Computer, select Drives, place a checkmark next to all drives, and click OK. Then reconnect the card reader, insert a memory stick, and see if it works.
The other thing you can try which has worked for me with my memory readers is to disconnect the reader, remove the USB drivers and reboot. To remove the USB drivers:
Right click My Computer, choose Properties.
Click the Hardware Tab, then click Device Manager button.
Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers (+)
Right click the USB Universal Host Controller listings one by one and choose uninstall for each one.
Once they are all gone, reboot. When XP reboots it will reinstall them and after a few minutes try connecting the reader again.
Sometimes USB drives automatically take up drive letters already in use, specially if you have a reader which supports all the different types of media cards. This usually happens if you have mapped network drives, but can happen in other situations too.
To check if the computer is seeing the drive go to Computer Management (right click on My Computer and click on Manage). Expand Storage (if not expanded) and click on Disk Management. On the right u should see all the drives on the PC. Find the one which looks the same size as your card and check the drive letter and make sure its not using the same one as another drive on the computer.
Did you try any other card?
Looks like you have damaged your micro card, it is too tiny and probably taking it out and putting back in the phone has damaged it.
What type of phone you are using? My phone uses mini USB so I pulg it directly with my PC, even you can try connecting it via bluetooth, though you may find uploading slow but it will keep that micro card save.
hmmmmmmmm... i do a lot of things like that .. but my personal favourite is changing the slot in the back of computer where the main usb wire is connected..
if not, see if u can get another mother-adaptor for the micro-sd
(smaller cards are usually ok, the template mother adaptor pins that line up sometimes go bad with time)
