Dude, the bold statement is absolutely true. Why would US care for Pakistan or Pakistan's interest. US care for its own interest. And thats what Pakistan should do as well.
And here comes the original issue. Pakistanis dont care about their own country neither they put the country's interest first. Whether its politicians, army, taliban or the normal public. Everyone is ready to hurt others just in their own interest, not country's. And this is the core problem. Otherwise Pakistan would have never split as a result of the slogan "Idhar ham udhar tum"...
And its not about US that you have to follow. Pakistan can follow its own nieghbors if not US. They used to compare with India in every single field. Now tell me where do we stand. The comparison between PAkistan and India is no more realistic. Its like matching apple with orange.
I do believe that Pakistanis keep the country's interest and they wont anyone to help them. But the problem is, the ground reality is totally opposite.
I completely agree.

So why blame US?
Since the thread is about 'US wants' hence they get part of the blame.
Pakistan has suffered not just because of internal failures but also because of foreign interventions. The worst began during Ziaul Haq, "we don't like military dictators.... but in the interest of region we will support Zia" and pumped millions/billions of dollars, guess what happens?
Then comes another blunder AKA Musharraf, same thing again "we don't like military dictators... but in the interest of region we will support Musharraf" and again pumped millions and billions of dollars. Any guesses what happened? US does not have best of interest for Pakistan or Pakistanis. All this hoopla of "nuclear failed state, wmd falling in wrong hands".... you are free to make your opinion.
Are you telling me that the Soviet Union was not a threat to Pakistan?
Exactly, so to think that US is here to eliminate Taliban/Alqaeda is also a mistake. There are far more interests in the region than just these 2 idiotic groups.

the problem is that when US and Pakistani interests converge people assume that it is not in our interests
example: fighting and killing the taliban
many pakistanis assume it is not in our interest to do so because it is in america's interest
such 2dimensional thinking must end
US is only interested in Pakistan 'killing' Taliban in Pakistan side for a reason, they are not interested in killing them off in Afghanistan... not to the same scale as they'd like us to believe.

And what great interests are those? Getting oil from Central Asia by bypassing Russia? and establishing military bases to project power on China and Asia?

It is in Pakistan's own interests to kill off the Taliban and become a modern progressive society.
And why is USA not interested in eliminating the Taliban in Afghanistan?
So when did TTP emerge? 2000? 1999? 1990s? or was it much later?? ;)
2004 or 2005...but that again is Pakistan's fault
They were stupid enough to believe that they can control these animals by funneling them to control Afghanistan and wage a proxy war in Kashmir fighting India.
But they could not control them and a lose coalition was formed in 2004 or 2005 which they sought to establish an extremist Islamic state in Pakistan.
This has happened to other major powers, such as China and VietCong and when China could no longer control them, this lead to a war in 1979 in which 100,000 Chinese soldiers were killed.

Right around when "innocent" Abdullah Mehsud, a Pakistani citizen was returned to Afghanistan ;) from Gitmo, that should be enough to open the eyes.

So you believe that USA brainwashed Meshud, then released him, helped him create TTP which will take over Pakistan and USA will use him to control Pakistan and further their strategic interests?

Pakistanis and their conspiracy theories.
Never fail to amuse me.
Who said they'll take over Pakistan? Blindness of some people never fails to amuse me.
Re: US wants national govt with Nawaz as PM: report
Bravo NS:

“I have no intention to come into power with the support of the US,” he clarified, adding it has never been our ultimate goal to rule the country and earlier we joined the government to achieve some objectives.
He said PML-N can better support the government in the existing circumstances than by joining the government.
