US unable to shut down Iraqi TV Signals

Coalition terrorists wouldn’t want Iraq to broadcast their side of the war now would they.

U.S. forces have thus far been unable to fully shut down the Iraq (news - web sites) government’s ability to broadcast a television signal, a top U.S. general said Friday. The regime of Saddam Hussein (news - web sites) continues to use television to try to communicate with the Iraqi population despite U.S. attacks on the transmission network, said Maj. Gen. Stanley McChrystal.

Now, the power somehow got turned off, and they are broadcasting from an improvised antenna. (a radio or television broadcast is among the most traceable of signals) How many people do you really think see these broadcasts? Not many, except those with generators, lots of batteries, and really good TV's and radios.

But those broadcasts provide great intel for the US. They could be jammed anytime.

Fret its the same way with the Palestine and the damn Jews, they keep shutting down their TV signals but they keep on bringing it back up :D

Man if this war was going on in the US, the US will lose control soo fast of everything, just look at what happen last year during 9-11, the prez disappered and all, what a mess up government indeed.

I agree with OG that the content of these Iraqi broadcasts don't really matter to the Iraqis and that it does provide decent intell for America. But I think it was stupid to attack Iraqi TV - it is not a threat to anything. Even if the original US intent was not to shut down the broadcast altogether it makes for bad propaganda. We knew their systems were highly redundant, broadcast media doesn't take much to work. So, we also knew every time we knock one out our cheerleadering media would publicize it as a victory. Then pop Iraqi TV is back! Weathermen filling in as pundits back in the States are spewing stupid amazement mixed with arrogance: "Where the hell did that come from?" Iraq gets to parade the survival of their crappy TV station as a defeat against the great techno-superpower.. even if it's a hollow, minor victory those who believe can believe.

In short: We keep giving Iraq small victories with each attack on their TV system with no real benefit to us.
