BS. "Super power" is not some halwa that you get from others and eat.
No country can make another a super power. You can be a super chamcha or a super slave if you expect others to make you a "power"
This is all some sweet sounding talk to make those Indians feel better who are keeping score daily as to how much halwa India is getting versus how much Pakistan is getting.
The nuclear coop and joint production, C2 and other hi-tech offers are to be welcomed however.

This is currently still in the talking phase. Frankly, I think it's just loud noises for the sake of national ego protection.
It would be utterly stupid for India to buy the F-16. India's Su-30 Flankers are superior aircraft to the F-16, and India already has invested enormously into the physical and organisational infrastructure required for Su-30 operations.
Operating F-16s, rather than increasing the number of Su-30s in its arsenal, would be extremely expensive for India and lead to expensive logistical problems.
There has got to be someone smart in the Indian Defence establishment who will ultimately put the brakes on this.
Personally, I would welcome it if India bought the F-16. It would represent a collosal misuse of fund on their behalf, and save that money from being spent on greater numbers of the much more dangerous Su-30 it already has.
This is why the USA sold Pakistan the F-16s whilst being able to state that they will not upset the balance of power. India can easily offset this through its current Su-30 expansion plans.
If India wants to go through the expense of operating yet another entirely new line of aircraft, it's more than welcome to.

I think, India should finance an arms race on the subcontinent. Let’s see a 15-20% increase in defense spending…and watch Pakistan try to match it. It should be fun…just the absolute dollars being spent would be interesting.
Although..the F-16’s manufacturing is also being talked about. Take the maintenance offshore. 
Maybe the Paki planes would come to Bangalore to be repaired after being shot down in Kashmir.

I think America is playing a clever game. I bet that if India is not careful, it may end up with F/A-18s which may be forced upon us in return for getting American nuclear reactors which we desperately need.

I always thought that india will never go for f16. but since america offered block 70 exclusively designed f16 for india i think indian top brass will consider it seriously. Those block 70 f16s will be way better then any f16 ever produced.
But again i am always in favor of gripan from sweden and instead india can settle down with recon aircrafts and some of those state of the art radars "With" the technology transfer.

They are not clever, rather they are out to make as much money as possible out of third world nations like India and Pakistan by selling them as much weaponry as possible (the condition being weaponry that does not seriously threaten US interests).

Block 70 is just a clever Yankee name to boost our egos. If Pakistan wants, Lockheed may rearrange some parts and say they have Block 99 “Fighting Baaz.” 
India buying F-16s is simply idiotic.
I agree Gripen is simply top class and the best on offer but Kaash hum Rafale khareedein…That plane is the best that we can get for money without American strings. Otherwise both India and Pak may go to war but their planes won’t start jab jang shuroo ho jaati and may give out a message - “Please press Zero for immediate assistance”
