ISLAMABAD: The United States has expressed its willingness to buy small arms and ammunition from Pakistan for use in Iraq and Afghanistan, media reports said.
‘‘The US Government needed small arms and light equipment for use Iraq and Afghanistan. And they (Americans) have expressed their willingness to buy various kinds of weapons from Pakistan,’’ the Dawn quoting senior defence sources said.
The Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) and its 14 allied plants were manufacturing quality weapons, which were being purchased by a number of developed countries, including France and Germany, they said.
The arms and ammunitions would be sent to the US defence forces as soon as the government received formal orders from that country, the sources added. http://www.kaumudi.com/news/071704/world.stm#1
pakistan should not be selling weapons to usa, as these weapons will then be used for terrorist activities. pakistan should obtain assurances from usa government that these weapons will only be used for peaceful purposes, and the president of pakistan should certify this each year. if usa is found guilty of promoting terrorism in the world, pakistan should impose immediate sanctions on the usa.
