State departments 2005-2006 Human Rights report on Pakistanis out on the net (there are links to other Nations as well and it includes a report on HR issues in the US itself):

*limits on freedom of association, religion, and movement
*imprisonment of political leaders
*corruption
*legal and societal discrimination against women

*restriction of worker rights
Re: US State Department: Pak Human rights record poor
^^ These are sad facts. No one can deny these. I guess we need to swallow our pride and work on alleviating these problems.
Off course the opinions vary as to how to work on fixing these issues. People may say bring back the politikos and things will be all hunky dory.
Others will say give more rights to the states (provinces) and things will be AOK.
Yet another group will clamor to the ideas of "Islamic (and fascistic) state" to fix the ills.
My take is that we all need to work on the economic issues, like overhauling tax structure. In addition to this, there have to be six lane toll highways connecting East-West and North-South.
This will allow people to move out of the troublesome areas and do something with their lives.
I strongly feel that Pakistan has a bright future and a fantastic role to play in this world. Given 10-15 years of peace and stability can get us out of the bogs and on to the beautiful valley of prosperity. Amen.

*]exploitation of indentured, bonded, and child labor.
With the exception of a few clever words inserted to differentiate between democracy, unstable democracy and stable democracy etc., the reports have striking similarities. I bet all were prepared by the same State Department bureaucrat.
Re: US State Department: Pak Human rights record poor
Another gem from the report:
*The security forces committed extrajudicial killings, violations of due process, arbitrary arrest, and torture. Corruption was pervasive throughout the government and police forces, and the government made little attempt to combat the problem. Security force officials who committed human rights abuses generally enjoyed de facto legal impunity,” the report said.
Pointing to electoral malpractices, the report observed that “during elections for local governments in 2005, international and domestic observers found serious flaws, including interference by political parties, which affected the outcome of the vote in parts of the country.” *
On a side note extra judicial killings and corruption were accepted as legitimate justification for the ouster of both Benazirs government and Nawaz Sharifs.
Re: US State Department: Pak Human rights record poor
We the patriotic Pakistanis can always show the stats about Bharatis. However that may not be a good comparison. Bharat is historically a kommie basket case. It is only in the last 10 years that they turned their Kaaba from Moscow to DC.
As Pakistanis we must chart our own course for the well being of our citizens. Quoting Bharatis, or BDeshis, or the dirt poor Afghans is not going to help in this case.
Re: US State Department: Pak Human rights record poor
the question is will things change? i doubt it!
people talk so lovingly of how great pakistan is but in turn are extremely racist to other castes and ethnicities!
i think pakistan should stop looking to India, Bangaldesh, Afghanistan.....
the war on terror and the Baloch situation has probably worsened things. in these 2 issues alone hundreds have been, arrested, killed unecessarily, properties destroyed.......and al by their own government!
anyway.......i suppose things could be worse.....lerts console ourselves!
Re: US State Department: Pak Human rights record poor
It is our country and we have to talk about it lovingly unlike those morons in Afghanistan who utterly destroyed Kabul, Jalalabad, and Kandhar. The same Mullatic lunatics are now trying to turn Bannu, Kohat, and Peshawar into their dreamland pictures of Mogadeshu.
Afghan and especially Pushtoon intellectuals of Kabul failed miserably in their task to protect their home town. Now see how bad that city looks.
The same Pushtoon intellectuals are again failing this time, East of Durand line. They are allowing Talibanic menace take over telephone exchanges and other infrastructure.
You guys are lucky that the Jawans of FC and Pak military are using low level ammo on these fanatic beardos.
Just remember Americans will not be as nice. They will simply drop the daisy cutters. Are you Afghanis already forgetting your history?

it was the morons in the pakisan army and intellignce who supported extremiost movemnts in afghanistan. dont forget that. and it was these same two faced, betraying people who went against them. it was pakistan who supported these extremist groups in order to get their way but failed. america order this servile nation which goes by the name of purity to go against t beliefs and how could the great army refuse its master?
Americans are better than the Pakistan army generals. at least they CAN be tried for their guilt. in pakistan an army general will be rewarded and glorified or at worst ignored.
we do not forget our glorious history. and insha allah soon we will have a better future than you.
these Mullah luntacis were and are supported by the power loving army generals of your lad of the pure.
oh yes - i do know how great the pakistan army is when i read accounts of it's actions in bangladesh, waziristan and balochistan. there is concern that this great pakistan army you refer to is using chemical warfare in balochistan.
what you forget is that your beloved army is to blame for his mess and sooner or later you will either be shamed up by either India or America. India has already done it once back in 1971.
You talk like this army and nation of yours is soemthing great. But when it contains elements like you theres only one word that comes to mind - TRASHY. i have no reason to hate pakistan or its individuals but sadly racists like you are not uncommon.
by the way dont mock Islam - a beard was ne of the ways of the prophet muhammad peace be upon him. so dont mock islam in your quest to inslt pashtuns.
Re: US State Department: Pak Human rights record poor
OK so I get a dog, feed him, and train him. One day the dog gets rabies and goes oinker mad. Everyone would agree if I put that dog to sleep, except few rabies-infested dog-lovers.
Bunch of Bharati slaves talking about "glorious hi-$hit-ry. My foot!
BDeshis, Waziris, or Bugtis may have a point. Check out Bharati record and see how the militants (nagas, Nexalites, or Kashmiris) are treated there. Oh Baboo Raam, Pot calling the Kettle black.
Our Messenger pbuh was the most truthful (sadiq), and trustworthy (Amin). So what if I see a beardo doing all kinds of terrorism. Just because he wears few hair on his face doesn’t mean I ought to treat him with respect.

.
woof woof woof.....you would nt know how to respect some one!
you can say whatever you want about Bharat/India - at least they have principles. they stick to their principles. pakistan has this habit of supporting groups but then when master says stop , they stop!
this is why Pakisan wil never move forward as a nation.
