Since the topic-starter has mentioned the suffering of people in Africa and since most of us fancy the concept of one ummah and that muslims should feel the pain of other muslims, let me put some ideas out there to make us think.
There are 1 billion muslims in this world, with governments in 50 odd countries, including atleast one nuclear powered country, and many who are amongst the richest countries of the world.
What has muslims and muslim governments done to alleviate the suffering of people in Iraq and Africa?
How many muslim peace-keepers are positioned in muslim areas of Africa? Forget muslim areas, human suffering is human suffering. How many muslim nations sent their troops to help people around the world?
If the governments of so-called muslim lands are so coward/weak/corrupt that they can't be bothered to help anyone around the world, then what is stopping muslim population in those countries from throwing the rulers off, and putting in place people who deserve to be the rulers?
