Let’s not confuse between Pakistani Taliban and Afghan Taliban.
Secondly lets not confuse between Talibans who are willing to sit on the table or on the dirt floor (their choice) and talk and resolve the issues instead of committing terrorism.
This is not purely US stance to “talk” to the “Afghan Taliban”.
Pakistan too has proposed this and offered help in mediation for the last one year (if not more). Here is the latest link.
Pakistan offers to mediate between US and Mullah Omar
If Mullah Umer is willing to keep Afghanistan Al-Q free, then he will be given money and weapons while Karazai the joker will be kicked out of Kabul.
Thus it is upto the Afghan power elite to sit and resolve the Afghan issues instead of doing kiddi stuff like boycotting the elections or killing each other like petty African tree dweller hutus and tutsis.
Instead of looking of constipated conspiracy theories, we the Pakistani educated elite should welcome any negotiations that will reduce the influence of Al-Q in Afghanistan.
Pakistani and American military has their options open, but anytime when the local tribals promise to kick out uzbeks and Arabs, quit spreading anarchy, quit blowing up girls schools etc. then there is no need for us to go to war.
Our soldiers are the most precious aspects of our society. Why on earth we’d let them lose their lives?
