US Primary elections: Who are you rooting for?

Re: US Primary elections: Who are you routing for?

True a complication arising from a simple procedure can be expensive but it’s an anomaly rather than the norm. It’s usually much more costly to treat people with pre existing conditions who need constant medical care and medical supplies. And that is why everyone’s premiums are higher now to make sure the insurance companies keep up their hefty profits. Also, I was trying to show the stark difference in care under universal healthcare and private health care. My mother was ignored by the medical team even though her oxygen levels were in the low 80’s. That’s a big deal but it was brushed off because you could see the non chalant attitude amongst the nurses. In the U.S. they are just more vigilant about these things and my mother would have never deteriorated to the point she did if she was here. I’ve seen care provided in both countries and there is a huge difference. I’ve also seen gross negligence in so many other cases and there is absolutely nothing you can do as a patient other than just suck it up and be thankful for ‘free’ healthcare. Mind you it’s not free. My family has been working full time ever since they got to Canada and have paid more than their fair share of taxes so yes I do expect the doctors to be at their service when they are admitted to the hospital and not make it seem as if they are doing us a favor!

Also the only thing I like about Obamacare is that people with pre existing conditions are now covered. I just think Medicaid should have been expanded and Obamacare did have a public option initially which never became part of the final bill. It’s also important to put a cap on private insurance payouts. It’s totally feasible to put a cap on these payouts to maybe 125% of Medicare but the GOP buffoons and insurance lobbyists don’t let that happen. All I am saying is universal healthcare is NOT the answer to the current healthcare crisis. The same people who are crying for universal healthcare will be crying about the super duper long wait times and lack of proper care if it does get implemented.
