Do you guys agree with him?](“http://www.yahoo.com/s/971728”)

I know there are racist people who won't vote for Obama because he is black and people who are on the fence who say 'there is just something about Obama that makes me wary of him' are a real concern. But the Wilder/Bradley effect can be harness by the Obama team to fire up it's supporters to make sure that those who would vote for Obama will in fact vote for Obama, it might take an extra effort by Obama supporters to get them out there and do so and the Wilder/Bradley effect in the back of their minds will fire them up to give that extra effort.

I will vote on election day but being able to vote early, as several states allow, takes away the "I didn't have time to vote' excuse you hear so often.

Re: US Presidential debate (Final): John McCain vs. Barack Obama

I thought all states allowed it? Which state is it that doesn't allow it?

Re: US Presidential debate (Final): John McCain vs. Barack Obama

marjawa, medical bankruptcy is better than dying, dont u agree?

I'm talking about early in-person voting, not all states allow it. As far as Absentee voting some states require an excuse some states allow anyone to do it with no excuse necessary.

There is no free lunch.
someone is already paying for those 'free' ER visits.
and that someone is not insurance companies its customers who have higher premium costs because they are sharing the burden of this health care for others.

second problem with the health system here is that, you can be excluded, if u dotnhave continuous insurance and find out u have some chronic condition while u are between insurance, well u are out of luck. companies can also choose what they cover or not. There are many bankruptcies due to medicla bills in US, not by uninsrred people but because insurance did not cover medical costs for some treatments or because patient had reached some threshhold.

It amuses me to no end when some ppl in US who have no clue about the rest of the world say, we dont want thrif world healthcare, not even bothering to go and read about which other industrialized countries do not have universal health plans. But then I cant take the blinders off such folks.

Forget the debate. The New York charity dinner last night was a blast. Speeches by both McCain and Obama will have you in stiches. What it proves is that all these candidates are very aware of all the gaffes they do in the campaign and all the media criticism on their mis-steps. Although as a speaker Obama is miles ahead of boring ol’ McCain, but in self-depracating humor, McCain was actually funnier (IMO).

That's what i said... Premiums would increase when unisured increase.

Re: US Presidential debate (Final): John McCain vs. Barack Obama

Senator Obama just leaped ahead of McCain yet again with the endorsement of Colin L. Powell. This should re-assure those undecided voters about Obama’s capability as President and Commander-in-chief.

Obama-Biden-Powell! say no more

Re: US Presidential debate (Final): John McCain vs. Barack Obama

Obama rocked !!
once again this is the third debate in row that he won !!! according to cnn..

Colin Powell is a good man. He is admired by many Americans. This is definately a huge endorsement. I hope it can resonate the crowd and young voters and bring 'em to the polls on Nov 4th.

As much as I dislike what Powell did, that was one of the best endorsements in an interview I've heard.

Re: US Presidential debate (Final): John McCain vs. Barack Obama

Colin Powell’s endorsement was one thing, but the way he defended Islam and criticized Islamophobia in the current campaign was incredible. Its a video worth watching.

What impact it will have in the US remains to be seen. I was reading some opinion pages on CNN and LA Times, and they seem to think, Powell’s endorsement is a big deal (I am not too sure on that) and that his criticism of the more right-wing tilt in Republican Party is spot on (I agree) and Powell is the first high profile leader saying what many moderate republicans have been thinking through this campaign.

Hmmm… lets see.

If McCain loses on Nov 4th, regardless of the alleged racist tendencies of a vast number of voters, regardless of the we-don’tt-know-him factor of an Obama candidacy and regardless of his pseudo-socialist plans, it will be a paradigm change in American politics for a generation.

but if you have a safety net insurance plan for the currently uninsured or uninsurable then it nets out as far as total cost goes whether its in form of higher taxes or higher premiums.

The medical industry in US needs a swift kick in the fat arse anyways.

Re: US Presidential debate (Final): John McCain vs. Barack Obama

That is exactly what is needed of high profile personnel such as Colin L. Powell to speak out against Islamophobia, even if it puts them at odds with their fellow party-men. Truth be told!

This endorsement does a lot for Obama, i'm pretty sure McCain would have liked to have that endorsement. Moreover, Powell just ripped McCain and his lack of judgement by choosing Palin as runningmate who clearly is not fit to be in the oval office.

Her appearance or the "gig" on SNL, first seen with hope and skepticism, may have just drilled McCain deeper, once you become a punchline, you're pretty much done in the political arena.

America does not want change in the form of a different name and face, same party-lines and the same policies. Change for America this time around means Democrats and the longing for that change is very apparent from the boost Obama has gotten overtime, and continues to climb higher which McCain struggles to keep up.

Re: US Presidential debate (Final): John McCain vs. Barack Obama

Nov 4th will bear it out, but my guess is Republican Party has thrown McCain under the bus. They knew that in this election, there is no chance* of the incumbant party (GOP) to win the White House so they positioned McCain to take the fall. Poor guy walked into this hook, line and sinker. Then again, McCain is 72. This is his last stand anyway.

McCain's best chance was probably in 2000, when he ran into Karl Rove's devious techniques and got destroyed. In 2008, right after the convention when McCain was getting some bounce and the race was tightning, the whole stink of an economic collapse was unleashed burying any possibility for McCain to come up for air. Actually, if you think about it, its a credit to McCain's campaign (or the inexperience-argument/racial attitudes towards Obama) that the race is still so tight.

  • "No chance" because of a deeply unpopular President, an unpopular war, a sinking economy and a desire for "change". For McCain to try and become a candidate for change - after 26 years in US Senate - is basically a stretch even for a die-hard McCain supporter. You can either run as an "experience" candidate or a "change" candidate. You can't take it both ways, like McCain is trying to do.
