Colin Powell’s endorsement was one thing, but the way he defended Islam and criticized Islamophobia in the current campaign was incredible. Its a video worth watching.
What impact it will have in the US remains to be seen. I was reading some opinion pages on CNN and LA Times, and they seem to think, Powell’s endorsement is a big deal (I am not too sure on that) and that his criticism of the more right-wing tilt in Republican Party is spot on (I agree) and Powell is the first high profile leader saying what many moderate republicans have been thinking through this campaign.
Hmmm… lets see.
If McCain loses on Nov 4th, regardless of the alleged racist tendencies of a vast number of voters, regardless of the we-don’tt-know-him factor of an Obama candidacy and regardless of his pseudo-socialist plans, it will be a paradigm change in American politics for a generation.
