US offers 'incentives' to Sudan

**The US has offered Sudan “incentives” in return for “verifiable changes” on the ground, in an apparent softening of its stance on the African nation.**Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said the US remained focused on reversing the “ongoing dire human consequences of genocide” in the Darfur region.

She promised to help displaced people and to ensure militias were disarmed.

The US has sanctions against Khartoum, and President Omar al-Bashir is wanted on an international arrest warrant.
