US offered $5 billion to stop nuke tests claims Nawaz Sharif

More ramblings of this incompetent buffoon Nawaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharif has claimed he was offered five billion dollars by then US president Bill Clinton to not conduct nuclear tests in retaliation to India’s atomic blasts in 1998.

“President Clinton telephoned me five times and offered five billion dollars for not testing the nuclear weapons. I refused the offer for the integrity and security of Pakistan,” he said in an interview to a TV channel.

The exiled Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief also claimed that President Pervez Musharraf had “fabricated” the story about the hijacking of a plane in which the general was returning to Pakistan “to hide his own mistakes”.

Sharif said he did not block the runway to prevent Musharraf’s plane from landing in October 1999, just before the military coup in which the latter took power.

He said he had refused to sign the documents of his resignation and “suspension” of Parliament. “I was also asked to sign a document expressing my failure as prime minister and making an apology to the nation and Gen Musharraf,” Sharif said.

“I will not like to become the second Shaukat Aziz,” he said referring to the incumbent prime minister, adding that those who left him would not be accepted in his party.

“It would be like selling my conscience,” Daily Times quoted Sharif as saying.

Sharif, however, said the Pakistani government might have struck a deal with its Saudi Arabian counterpart for his exile. He said he was kept in a small cell for 14 months and treated like a “war prisoner”.

“I was in the Attock prison when a Suadi man came and told me that a deal had been reached between the Saudi and Pakistani governments for my exile,” he said.

who would want to buy that crap thing? benazir? altaf or qazi? to replace their even crappier ones?

Re: US offered $5 billion to stop nuke tests claims Nawaz Sharif

Who knows. Iran offered Pakistan $4 billion for the nukes.

Re: US offered $5 billion to stop nuke tests claims Nawaz Sharif

^^ 4 Billion, I much rather have taken 40% share of revenue from Iran's oil

Re: US offered $5 billion to stop nuke tests claims Nawaz Sharif

:cb::omg:

Re: US offered $5 billion to stop nuke tests claims Nawaz Sharif

from what I heard back in 1998 the whole package came to 10 billion dollars

Re: US offered $5 billion to stop nuke tests claims Nawaz Sharif

Had he been smart, he should have accepted 5 billions, might still be ruling Pakistan. After all this nuke program had become pain in the @$$ of all who were involved in this program.

^ What are you talking about? Pakistan's economy has broken all records and the nukes kept the desparate Hindustanis at bay in 2002.

Re: US offered $5 billion to stop nuke tests claims Nawaz Sharif

Khisiani billi khumba nochay.

Re: US offered $5 billion to stop nuke tests claims Nawaz Sharif

what a laughable man. Until recently he had been claiming Clinton had offered him $10 billion, and now it is only $5 billion - I suppose that was deflationary pressures? :hehe: To this day Clinton has never come out and said he offered Nawaz anything, and as everyone knows an American President cannot just write personal check book and offer people money like an Arab Sheikh. He has to get Congressional approval first! and that comes with a whole load of conditions as well. Just more BS from NS.

Re: US offered $5 billion to stop nuke tests claims Nawaz Sharif

Someone should off Sharif.

Can you prove that? What records are you talking about? Had nukes kept Hindustanis at bay, Kashmir issue would not have been shelved.

Bhijaan, Shelving the Kashmir issue, and looking for a suitable compromise, has been the best thing that has happened to Pakistan in its History.

It can now, along with Hindustan, concentrate on developing it's economy. Kashmiri's were only pawns in the great game of political leaders. The ordinary man in the streets (apart from Jihadis) does not care for proxy wars.

Ordinary man in the street does not want 700,000 Indian roops raping, torturing and killing as they have done since 1989. In fact it does not want them there - period.
