US Mid-term elections tomorrow

Re: US Mid-term elections tomorrow

If you can't beat them, join them.

Checking the blinds spot before changing lanes.

Re: US Mid-term elections tomorrow

Atleast NY is stick with Democrats. Governor Cuomo is back!!

Re: US Mid-term elections tomorrow

Nah my bro will kill me. He's a Dem party official for north east states.

Re: US Mid-term elections tomorrow

Honestly, I think this is good for Dems in long term b/c right now everyone is blaming Obama, but once GOPers take over the Congress its going to be complete gridlock and people would start blaming GOP, too. Btw, Dems have incumbecy fator right now & mid term elections have always gone against the party it power, but this will energise Dems for 2016. So, in other words...if Dems are going to win 2016 White House they had to lose this elections (and majority of seats picked up GOP are in red states).

Re: US Mid-term elections tomorrow

And if you change lanes I will provide him with the gun

Re: US Mid-term elections tomorrow

Unfortunately we will have Hawkish Hillary as front runner. Won't vote for her.

Can we have a sensible candidate like Elizabeth Warren?

2014 Midterm Elections: GOP takes control of the Senate - CBS News

Republicans are projected to win control of the Senate for the first time since 2006, according to the CBS News decision desk.

The GOP is projected to pick up four key Senate seats previously held by Democrats, in Iowa, Colorado, North Carolina and Arkansas. Republicans are also projected to pick up three more Senate seats – as expected – in Montana, South Dakota and West Virginia. The GOP needed six pick-ups to win control.

Additionally, the Republican Party is projected to hold on to two key seats in Kansas and Georgia.

Meanwhile, in Kentucky, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is projected to defeat his Democratic challenger, Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes. Now that he’s secured a sixth term in office and Republicans have taken control of the Senate, McConnell is likely to be the chamber’s next majority leader.

The CBS News decision desk also projects that the GOP will keep control of the House, with a 226 to 171 majority.

Most of the competitive governor’s races remain hotly contested, even though polls began closing at 7 p.m. ET. But CBS News projects that Republican Scott Walker has won re-election as Wisconsin governor in his third election in the last four years. He was first elected in 2010, and then faced a recall election in 2012 after he moved to strip Wisconsin public workers of their collective bargaining rights.

Re: US Mid-term elections tomorrow

Agreed. It is probably better for Dems in the long run. It all depends on the candidate that Dems will put forward. They should be able to get the rank and file revved up for the election to be able to capitalize on it. As of now, I don't see Hillary doing that.

Another interesting outcome from last night, more wannabes to the already crowded 2016 hopefuls on the GOP side. Govs. Walker & Kasich. They are expecting 14 podiums for GOP primaries debates.

Re: US Mid-term elections tomorrow

This is how the house looks like after mid-term last night:

Re: US Mid-term elections tomorrow

Loved some of the comments in dailykos.com

For ex.

Let the poor (white) folks who voted against their own Medicaid and their own interests pay the price. Enough of looking out for them. When they fall sick, let them celebrate that they no longer have Obamacare.

Amen to that.

Re: US Mid-term elections tomorrow

As one who mom warned abt said the Dems ran away from their party's record. The Kentucky candidate (for Senate or governor I am not sure) wouldn't even say who she voted for in presidential election. Such candidates deserve to lose.

No regrets. Out with the trolls.

Re: US Mid-term elections tomorrow

Ya I agree the country will someday realize they were still better off with obama care. Ofcourse it was taken for granted. No matter how much flawed it is currently but i dont remember any law giving its rewards right from inception, so how could it.

Re: US Mid-term elections tomorrow

Was driving home and listening to NPR. A "conservative democrat" who won from w. Virginia (Senate I think) called himself a proud moderate. "That's where the country is. We are all about solutions. President Obama did not show leadership. Hope Mitch McConnell will shoe better leadership than Harry Reid".

As an old member once queried "How about them Moderates? "

Re: US Mid-term elections tomorrow

How stupid is it of GOP governors not to expand Medicaid? They not only lost out federal dollars, but also at the chance of making a dent in the uninsured numbers. Granted there are issues to be ironed out, but it is better than what we had.

Re: US Mid-term elections tomorrow

Stupid wins.
