SAN FRANCISCO, Sept 27: US Senate candidate Barack Obama says that if President Pervez Musharraf loses power in a coup, the United States may consider military strikes to destroy Pakistan’s nuclear weapons.
In an interview published in the Chicago Tribune, the Democratic Party’s Senate candidate said he believed that Islamic extremist elements might take over if President Musharraf was overthrown, adding that in such a situation, America would have to consider going in and taking nuclear bombs out.
Referring to Iran’s recent announcement about converting tons of uranium into gas, a crucial step in making fuel for a nuclear reactor or a nuclear bomb, Mr Obama said that the United States should first address Iran’s attempts to gain nuclear capabilities by going before the UN Security Council and lobbying the international community to apply more pressure on Iran to cease nuclear activities. But if those measures fell short, the US should not rule out military strikes to destroy nuclear production sites in Iran, Mr Obama said.

Barack Obama is a rising star in the democratic party. He was a keynote speaker at the Democratic convention this year, and as far as I know, the only Muslim Senator. He is already an Illinois senator and he is favored by a wide margin to win a seat in the U.S. Senate. He is young and has a bright future in American politics. I think he will go pretty far.
Correction--Obama is confused on whether he's a muslim or christian. He was born to a muslim father...
Barack Senior was also a devoted Muslim, and also chose a Muslim name for his son, our own Barack Obama, Junior. Again, his name was an Arabic and Koranic.
Obama has spent a lifetime running from his family heritage and religious heritage. Would his father have given his son a Koranic name if the father was not a devout Muslim? Obama's stepfather was also a Muslim. Obama will be the first Muslim-heritage senator; he should be proud of that fact. There is nothing to be ashamed of in any of the three great Abrahamic religions.
