US Immigration Reforms

Anyone keeping track of the new immigration bill they’re trying to pass in the Senate? Any thoughts, comments? There is a bill, the Dream Act, that will help children who have grown up in the US as illegals, but who through college admission and earning a college degree, can earn citizenship. There is the chance it may get passed, and hopefully it will help a lot of people.

Immigration policies in the US have become extremely restrictive, hurting millions of people. Many of us are immigrants, sons and daughters of immigrants, and we all have a stake in the future of the immigration policies of the first world countries such as Canada, UK, US, Australia. For the sake of millions and millions of people who suffer and strive to give their families a better life and more opportunities, I pray new legislation will be passed that helps the immigrants in the US.

Re: US Immigration Reforms

just a lot of posturing in an Election Year.. nothing else..

There is no way illegal immigrants will be sent back or denied entry or citizenship or whatever they can be given to keep the influx and keep diluting the population.. it'll be a United States of Mexico in about 10 years anyway.

Re: US Immigration Reforms

minus the bearded hazrat off course.

Immigration is a serious issue facing Americans. Flood gates are open for the northwards flow from Mexico.

Hope things settle nicely and illegal immigrants get some way of working legally.

However Mullah Hazrat, you better watch out. You will be deported regardless of what happens in the American south.

Re: US Immigration Reforms

Immigration Bill passed by the House is very restrictive. It will take ages, if at all, to reconcile the two bills. PA is right. This is just election year posturing by the Republicans to appear strong on border security. In reality, it may end up as nothing.

Many of you may remember that just before '04 elections, Bush stated his plan to start an Amnesty program for Mexican illegals. Post-election, the whole thing fizzled out. Not to say it was an extremely bad idea, in any case.
