US 'helicopter and plane collide'

**A tour helicopter and a light aircraft have collided over the Hudson River near New York City, reports say.**Witnesses say the accident happened outside Hoboken, New Jersey, just across the river from Manhattan.

US media reports say that both aircraft crashed into the river after the impact. Emergency teams and divers are reported to be on the scene.

There was no immediate information on casualties. The Coast Guard said one person had been rescued, AP reported.

A witness told the Associated Press news agency that the plane had lost its wing in the collision and the helicopter “dropped like a stone”.

The helicopter was operated by Liberty Helicopters, a sightseeing operator, US media reported. CNN said six people were on the helicopter.

The light plane took off from Teterboro Airport in New Jersey, aviation officials said. It is not known how many people were on the plane.

In January, a passenger plane with 155 people aboard ditched into the Hudson River without loss of life, after apparently hitting a flock of geese.
