As long as muslims are not involved, I dont care…
Seems as if this is also not act of terrorism.

NY police says, “It was not an act of terrorism at all” - shooter opened fire , leaving many injured n got shot dead later on.
Re: Firing near Empire State Building
BBC's google result said "several shot - one fatally" but the actual article seems to have the fatally bit edited out... guess they aren't sure if there have been any deaths... hopefully none.
Re: Firing near Empire State Building
i just heard that the shooter was chasing a specific person...so, it's not terror related. personal fight likely...may be gang members shooting at each other!

hmm. so it's not terror related. I thought terror refers to fear and I am sure people around were terrorised by this.

so does a robber during a robbery...he too terrorizes his victims...do we call robber a terrorist? the shooter has been killed by police who can ONLY be defined as a criminal at best.

So long the robber or the robbed, both or either are muslim then its terrorism and ISI planned and executed successfully. Than it has terrorism written all over it.

2 dead, 9 injured in shooting near Empire State Building in Manhattan, police say | Fox News
**URGENT: **A laid-off store worker returned to his old job near the Empire State Building and opened fire Friday on a former coworker, killing the employee and injuring several others.
Authorities said the gunman, identified as 53-year-old Jeffrey Johnson, shot the ex-coworker at close range at a store near the landmark building in Manhattan. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said nine others were also shot, some by the perpetrator and “some may have been shot accidentally by police officers.”
Johnson was shot and killed by police, officials said. His 41-year-old former coworker, whose name was not released, died from gunshots to his head.
The gunman opened fire with a .45-caliber pistol at about 9 a.m. on the Fifth Avenue side of the building. A construction worker followed Johnson, then spoke to police nearby. Johnson turned his .45-caliber pistol on officers and they returned fire, New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said.
Johnson was then killed in an exchange of fire with police.
“This was a terrible tragedy,” Bloomberg said during a press conference. “We are not immune to the national problem of gun violence.”
Bloomberg said Johnson was laid off about a year ago from Hazan Imports, a women’s accessories store located near the Empire State Building.
Bloomberg and Kelly said nine people were wounded or grazed by gunfire in Friday morning’s shooting but are expected to survive.
A security guard near the scene said he heard seven or eights shots fired in the shooting, which began at 10 West 33rd Street.
“I heard gun shots and people started running,” said witness Jacque Boothby. “I looked around and people were just laying on the streets.”
Rebecca Fox, 27, said she saw people running down the street and initially thought it was a celebrity sighting, but then saw a woman shot in the foot and a man dead on the ground.
“I was scared and shocked and literally shaking,” she said. She said police seemed to appear in seconds. “It was like CSI, but it was real.”
Some of the victims were transported to Bellevue Hospital, while others were taken to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.
The FBI confirmed to FoxNews.com that they were on the scene investigating.
About 4 million people visit the landmark skyscraper’s observation decks every year – an average of about 11,000 per day.
In 1997, a gunman opened fire on the 86th floor observation deck, killing one tourist and wounding six others before fatally shooting himself.

Re: Firing near Empire State Building
He shot people because he held grudges for being laid off... seriously?!
Is that 2 dead including him?
Re: Firing near Empire State Building
No, not really… You should have been here in the 80’s. We had a family friend who moved to NYC from Karachi, but ended going back because he felt Karachi was safer (then…)!

You’d be right, but in 2010 there were around 13000 murders in US.

BEIJING - The United States is the leader among the world’s developed countries in gunviolence and gun deaths, according to a report on the US human rights record released onFriday.
The United States prioritizes the right to keep and bear arms over the protection of citizens’lives and personal security and exercises lax firearm possession control, causing rampant gunownership, the report said.
The Human Rights Record of the United States in 2011 was released by the State CouncilInformation Office of the People’s Republic of China in response to the Country Reports onHuman Rights Practices for 2011 issued by the US State Department on May 24.
According to the online edition of the Foreign Policy on January 9, 2011, the US people holdbetween 35 percent and 50 percent of the world’s civilian-owned guns, with every 100 peoplehaving 90 guns, the report said.
According to a Gallup poll in October 2011, 47 percent of American adults reported that theyhad a gun. That was an increase of 6 percentage points from a year ago and the highestGallup had recorded since 1993, the report indicated.
According to the Foreign Policy report, over 30,000 Americans die every year from gunviolence and another 200,000 Americans are estimated to be injured each year due to guns.
Besides, according to statistics released by the US Department of Justice, among the 480,760robbery cases and 188,380 rape and sexual assault cases in 2010, the rates of victimizationinvolving firearms were 29 percent and 7 percent, respectively, the report said.
The report pointed out that the United States has mighty strength in human, financial andmaterial resources to exert effective control over violent crimes. However, its society ischronically suffering from violent crimes, and its citizens’ lives, properties and personal securityare in lack of proper protection.
Re: Firing near Empire State Building
Yeah, the US has gun orgies. I mean its part of the culture of the place. Perhaps they will wake up to the issue some day, but probably not.
Its a big country though, so such incidents don’t generally reflect the entire society, but do reflect certain segments and regions i think.
Re: US Gun Culture
It was not terrorism act so just dont worry guys
Re: US Gun Culture
