But it is usually to the US that people like Wajihuddin turn to pressure the Pakistan govt into allowing a free judiciary.
US doesn’t want free judiciary in Pakistan, says Wajihuddin
Justice (r) Wajihuddin Ahmad has said that Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was deposed because the US did not want free judiciary to work in Pakistan. He expressed these views while addressing the Rawalpindi District Bar here on Wednesday. A large number of lawyers attended the meeting and boycotted court proceedings from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. High Court Bar Association President Sardar Asmatullah Khan, Rawalpindi Bar Association President Raja Khalid Ismael Abbasi, General Secretary Sajid Ilyas Bhatti, Syed Intizar Mehdi Shah, Joint Secretary Shahbaz Rajpoot, senior lawyer Shaiq Ahmed Raja were present on the occasion.
Re: US doesn’t want free judiciary in Pakistan, says Wajihuddin
USA may not want the Free Judiciary in Pakistan, but President Musharaf is going ahead with allowing the Free Judiary to continue in Pakistan.
The British have also quite clearly stated they are not going to call for the restoration of the ex-CJ or his judges, especially as they had over reached their constitutional bounds.

Judges should stick to hearing cases. The EX CJ overreached himself by meddeling with the Executive. USA and other countries know that they do not have grounds to ask for the restoration of the EX CJ.
Re: US doesn’t want free judiciary in Pakistan, says Wajihuddin
Well...it's not about what US doesn't want....it more about what they Do want. And it very apparent that they want fimiliar faces on the scene who US can easily deal with on different fronts. BB, corrupt and what not as she may be, but US is very fimiliar with her, NS somewhat. Musharraf, very much so.
So the focus is usually on What they want and how they'll work within the system to make it happen. What they don't want is another story and one rarely told or discussed; too many conspiracies lead to this...so it's not a sure thing.

Yes, that's pretty true. They probably were also not impressed by the ex-CJ and his judges freeing terrorists and murderers, just to spite the govt they had fallen out with.
