US couldn't be bothered to provide security for Benazir Bhutto

US refused BB security on legal grounds
Wednesday, January 16, 2008

WASHINGTON: Benazir Bhutto sought American assistance for her personal security but was told that it could not be provided for legal reasons, a meeting was told here on Monday.

Speaking at the New America Foundation, Peter Bergen, CNN expert on terrorism, said **any Pakistani leader who allows the US to proceed unilaterally to take military action in Pakistani territory would be committing “political suicide”.

He said minor US operations could go unnoticed, but the US must not leave a “big footprint.”** He felt the most effective way of doing this would be through cooperative US-Pakistan efforts, something that in any case has been underway for some time. khalid hasan

Re: US couldn't be bothered to provide secuty for Benazir Bhutto

U.S. is not responsible for providing security to foreigners in foreign countries. Unless it's agreed upon by the present Regime of that country.

Example: BlackWater USA; a security contractor for diplomats in Iraq. An approved institution by Iraqi Govt.

^True! Therefore If she even wanted to hire private foreign security guards, she would have needed the permission of Mush.
