You can not justify a war on the basis of suspicion, evidence must exist and be presented. You cannot assume guilt, regardless of past conduct. This is very basic logic. If an accused, has a history of criminality in the past, that still is not grounds for pronouncing guilt. If evidence is provided to convict, then fine. However if the prosecution admits that their evidence was faulty, or not accurate, the the convicted would be granted another trial. Now in the case of Iraq we know the evidence as faulty, the accused actually did not posses WMDs. So the accused was killed unjustly. The war was wrong because it was based on unsubstantiated suspicions, not facts. You should admit that.
The problem is that the Bush admin, and Blair govt, committed themselves to a war even before the had a rational to declare it. The entire thing was based on faulty intel, and the case in favor of war had so many gaping holes in it, that the govt and media worked overtime to hide it by denouncing critics and using hyper-patriotic rhetoric.. Did they know that the intel was faulty? Perhaps not, its hard to say. Whats more likely is that in their haste to go to war, they ignored better judgement, and allowed even the most flimsiest of intel to guide them. In retrospect we know thet were wrong, and this is a fact. Why defend a war we all now was based on a something that was obviously wrong?
And yes the US took out a dictator. But then there are many dictators inthe world. Should the US take them all out?
