US Army orders Arlington inquiry

**The US Army has begun an investigation into the way records have been kept and burials organised at one of the nation’s most important burial sites.**Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia is a famous resting place thousands of war heroes.

Investigators will look at allegations that people have been buried in the wrong graves or in ones already in use.

A separate report published by the Army has indicated that the cemetery is underequipped and understaffed.

Announcing the new inquiry, US Secretary of the Army John McHugh said: “As the final resting place of our nation’s heroes, any questions about the integrity or accountability of its operations should be examined in a manner befitting their service and sacrifice.”

This investigation comes after the army revealed that a married couple who should have been buried together in one grave were not.

Instead they were placed in adjacent graves, with one of the tombstones left unmarked.

Grave-markers have now been ordered for the site.
