Urs is not mourning.
Urs is not celebrated on a birthday, rather on the date of death. and that also for purpose of khatam-e-koran, charity of food,money etc.
Urs is not related to aqiqa in any sense.
This is the reason I request members to ask if they dont have enough knowledge of something, rather than blabbing nonsense about something continuously.
Its certainly found in Koran:
“Your helpers are Almighty Allah and His Rasool and those Muslims who perform Salaah and give alms and make Ruku” (5:55,Koran)
and Hadith:
The Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) has stated, “There are certain of Allah’s servants that have been set aside to fulfil the necessities of the people. People will call to them in their times of need. They are protected from the punishment of Almighty Allah”. (Jame Saghir)

Its generally related to concept of Aalim-e-Barzakh and roohaniat. Both are about spirits(rooh) and the afterlife.
There are some people in this world, who are lovers of ALLAH and have submitted their thoughts, wishes and hearts only to ALLAH. This trend is from before Hazrat Muhammad(saw) e.g. Ashaab-e-kaaf, mentioned in Koran.
Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) is Himself a lover(mehboob) of ALLAH and ALLAH is a mehboob of Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) Then love for Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) was seen from Hazrat Awais Karni (R.A). This love for a pious person is not specific to that person only but leads towards ALLAH. For a lover knows what makes loved one happy, and if the loved one is already a slave of ALLAH, then the lover will do his best to please ALLAH also.This is briefly about ishq and on ishq sufis,saints,Auliya-ALLAH etc thrive on.
Coming back to graves issue.The ability to send “salam” to a living person by a dead person can be seen from here:
Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) said: “when ever someone send salam to saahib-e-Qabr then he replies, and if he know him in his life then he do know him after death” (Baheeqi Fee Su’Bil Iman, Ibn-e-Abi Dunya)
The above is mentioned about a common person. When its about a certain Sufi saint, then its a little different. In lifetime, a person’s rooh becomes stronger by reciting ALLAH’s kalam, abandoning wordly wishes and carrying out many other tasks sent forth by ALLAH which ordinary persons cannot remain steadfast upon. Such saints have been blessed with “karamaat” in their lifetime.
When such sufi saints leave this world, their rooh is already made so strong by ALLAH that he can go to Aalim-e-Barzakh on his own, he may be able to visit the persons he loved etc.
Hadrat Ibn Masud Radi Allahu anhu relates that a man came to the Noble Prophet (Salla Allahu ta’ala 'alayhi wa Sallam) Salla Allahu ta’ala 'alayhi wa Sallam and asked: "O Messenger of Allah! What would you say about a person who loves (certain) people but does not share their period? He Salla Allahu ta’ala 'alayhi wa Sallam replied, “A person will be with those he loves.” [Bukhari and Muslim]
Thus if a Sufi Saint loved Hazrat Muhammad (SAW), He will be in the company of Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) too.and the connection of Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) leads to ALLAH, therefore when people come to the shrine of Sufi Saint ask him to become “waseela” for them for a certain wish, the sufi saint who in his lifetime also helped such people will again make dua to ALLAH because of his rooh’s closeness to ALLAH and then ALLAH is the Greatest ONE, who may accept this dua coming from the channel of Hazrat Muhammad (SAW).
