There are Maharashtrians like Bal Thackeray who hate Pakistanis but there are many more Maharashtrians like Urmila Matondkar, Anand Patwardhan, Nirmala Deshpande, Medha Patkar, Praful Bidwai who detest Hindu fundamentalism and want peace with Pakistanis.
Urmila Matondkar goes to Pakistan
Wagah (Amritsar): Bollywood film star Urmila Mataondkar, who appeared in Chandraprakash Diwedi-directed Partition film Pinjar," on Tuesday crossed over to Pakistan along with her father and Bollywood film producer Kadar.
Officials said the actress has gone to Pakistan to hold talks with Pakistan Government and some Pakistani artiestes for the shoot of a proposed film on pre-partition era in Pakistan.
They said Urmila and her director were also keen to visit some locales where the film could be shot since many pre-Partition buildings exist in Pakistan.
There were also reports that Urmila would appear in the shoot of a music video album in Pakistan.
“Pinjar” was released in October this year in which Urmila plays the role of a woman at a village near India-Pakistan border affected by the pre and post-partition riots.
