Re: URGENT!! Help with salary negotiation
Schedule a call and discuss it over the phone. Be sure to tell them why you should get more. During the call be sure to the tell them why you are the best fit for the job, what makes you unique and how excited you are about the offer. Basically you need to make a case as if you were a litigator.
In addition to your base pay, you should look at the benefits package, i.e. the total compensation. Sometimes, base pay lower b/c of total package and you can an argument that some of the items in the benefits package are not beneficial to you, example your healthcare is covered by your husband/wife’s medical insurance and you should get that money as a base pay.
Before you negotiate you should ask yourself, how badly you want this job and what are your alternatives. Anwer to this question will help you determine your negotiation style, aggressive vs passive
Good point, I would not be taking their medical benefits, so I can use that!!
Let me give you a bit more background info.....
Today the she called me and told me the offer in person and I told her that that the salary is a bit lower then what I was expecting but I will consider it and get back to her.... She said "let me know what you have in mind , we want to be fair to every one ..... I cant promise anything but it doesnt hurt trying"... So I think she was encouraging me to ask about the salary but since I didnt know what to say I told her I will think about it and let her know.....
Also, I feel more comfortable writing to them... Is that bad? Should I call insted?
Thanks every one for quick replies....
