can any one please tell me (if knows) what are the rights of an italian visa holder in Switzerland?? i have searched a lot around, couldnt get any satisfactory and well defined answer, if any of you could help me, i will be grateful

probably same as any european holder will have i.e. british etc

Switzerland isnt a part of EU so the rights may be very limited..

for british pplz .. no visa required for switzerland..... even if u r on a student VISA or HSMP visa u can go there ............ i dnt abt the working requirements .. that they need some working visa or not.

for british citizens yeah u can go there w/o visa, but if you are on some visa to UK you have to make sure..there are limitations, I had one of my indian national but green card holder pals tossed off the train to switzerland because he did not have a swiss visa, but had a visa to Italy, so while he could move about in EU, it was not the same for switzerland. this was a while back so things may have changed, but I still recall him being taken off the train. his argument with ppl who spoke german and italian but not english was rather amusing.

NOT ANY MORE, Switzerland is now a Shenghen State, meaning one need to obtain Shenghen Visa to even visit there even if you have resident visa for UK.
for the Italian visa holder not the passport holder, I assume same Shenghen visa rules applies, if you have visitor or shenghen resident visa without any country restrictions you can visit as there will be no visa requirement as both of these countries have signed to shenghen visa agreement.
best would be check local italian embassy of switzerland website for more info.

I think you are mixing things up, Sarmad was talking about British Citizen, in which case visa is not required. for people who have a visa of some sort in UK, I dont know, as you noted though they probably need visas.

Pir sahib, no I am not mixing the two, I have travelled to switzerland on Pakistani passport when visa was required, when it wasnt required on Pakistani and Brit Passport so all three categories :). later they allowed people who has resident visa of any sort of UK free of visa.
more recently they signed up to shenghen visa regime, so while it will provide easy access to all neighbouring eu countries of shenghen, but this has resulted for UK residents to get the shenghen visa of any state to visit switzerland.
