Besan cannot be poached as far as I know And if you steam it, it will end up in the family of dhoklas/gatte.

my sisters and mom used to poach…how it is done? you boil water, put muslin cloth over the rim of the pot…drop pakauRas like you drop them in the hot oil…the batter is however thicker than the pakauRaa batter. try it!
