One of my friends is at our house and she has been complaining of having a ‘blocked ear’ feeling. She says her left ear feels blocked (as if wax is accumulated inside) and she is very, very uncomfortable. Do you guys know of any tested remedies that might help?

She may be suffering from cold/allergies. I had that once. It's aweful. You feel like something heavy is stuck in your ear and there's a ringing sound. Tell her to take an antihistamine. It should help in a day or two.

You can't know if it's wax unless you've looked inside the ear with a otoscope, or you've dug it out with q-tip, latter is advised against by docs :P
Try this - tell her to pinch her nose tight with her fingers, and then take a deep breath in through her mouth. Now close the mouth and try to exhale against a closed epiglottis, with both mouth and nose closed shut. That sometimes equilibrates the pressure in the ears.
If that doesn't help - you can put a few drops of water in the ear to moisten the wax a bit, and then try to use a q-tip to sweep it out, but DO NOT keep digging deeper cuz that will injure your ear drum. You've to be very very careful.
If all else fails and she still complains of this, the she might need to pay a visit to the ER.

ask her to jump on one leg, does it go squish squish inside her ear?

Dont dig with Qtips...you may even push the wax further in. Pending visiting a doc, try out 1-2 drops olive oil in the ear. Supposed to soften the wax and easier to remove.
