Okay whenever you’re home DONT give him bottle. It will take a few days but wjen he’s really hungry he’d have to stop being stubborn. Once he starts taking your milk, the supply will automatically increase. One desi totka thay really works for increase in milk supply is eating a teaspoon of zrera two to three times a day. This is tried and tested by me and it really works. As for the pump I occasionally used avent manual pump its quiet affordable and a good buy. Good luck
There are some great suggestions in the link that Im copying here. Do have a look.
Oats porridge and fenugreek are also great sources to increase the supply. Hope that helps ! Help — My Baby Won’t Nurse! - KellyMom.com
Why don’t you pump when LO one isn’t latching on? If a bottle has been introduce already, it could be that the baby likes the fellow of the bottle nipple rather thn yours. To make sure your body is producing enough milk, when the LO doesn’t latch give him a bottle but pump the breast milk. You can store the BM for couple of days so you will have enough to give to the baby on the next feeding.
You have to empty your breast for your body to produce more milk. If you empty them every 3-4 hours, your body will start making more…thinking that the baby needs more milk.
Actually our bodies are like a machine, you pump and they produce. When I started pumping a lot of desi people stated the same thing…even my own mother said I won’t be able to continue for too long since I won’t have that mother to baby connection and won’t produce enough for too long. I was like that’s can’t be possible. I pumped for 7 months, and had enough saved to feed the LO for until he was 1 mA! I produced so much that I had to throw out a lot of it as well.
Anyways, I used the medela in style double pump. Dont even waste your time with a manual pump. I loved the pumping. I could pump and have the milk ready for the baby when he was ready…but hubby or mommy feed the baby as well and I got my sleep too.
^ I agree. I meant that babies if properly latched do better than the pump does (so if you can get the baby to latch, that is better), but I know moms who exclusively pumped for a long time, so it definitely can be done.
^ the battery operated one for me did work a little with munchkin, but it was still excruciating. I used to sit there for half an hour and end up with like 20ml
With second one, I could use the manual pump for 5 minutes and pump a whole bottle out..
I’ve tried both… but cant say the manual was better than the battery operated one, or vice versa.. because I think at the end of the day, it really depended on my body and how well I was able to express.
I never used a battery operated breast pump, but the electric/hospital grade one I rented when I had my twins was the best thing ever!! No pain, was so fast and efficient…it was my best friend for a very long time lol
I just figured a good healthy diet really helped with the milk flow… I didnt try to eat less calories or anything but made sure I was eating a lot of fruit and beans and stuff… avoided gas giving veggies though… LOL
