Re: Urgent advise required pls ... wieght loss belts ..

Weight loss belts are a complete ripoff, have come across quiet a few who gave them a try but never lost a single inch on them. What you do lose because of it is water weight and as a result one looks trimmed down because of the dehydration but as soon as your body starts to replenish itself the water weight comes back in.

One does not necessarily need to exercise to start losing weight/fat, as long as he is consuming below the daily maintenance calories figure, he will definitely start to lose weight. Exercising however does help pace up the process considerably, but expecting not to lose weight because of no exercise is nothing but a myth.

Re: Urgent advise required pls ... wieght loss belts ..

Good Morning Ms Bryani,

There is hardy any quick fixes. There are couple of things though.

If he drink water before he eats and not during or right after meal, his tummy muscle would get tight and would stay tight.
As a results TOND(omg) would start going in.

How ever the fat over it need to be removed. Which has to be combination of better diet and some work out.

Re: Urgent advise required pls ... wieght loss belts ..

CB I dont think the belts work that well tbh!

Tell him to really control his diet.

Is his big belly due to health reasons ( hormonal issue, steroid medication etc)

If he cant use the gym tell him to try shadow boxing it works a treat as a form of cardio.

There is no such thing is a quick fix or target weight loss :(

Re: Urgent advise required pls … wieght loss belts ..

Looks like this guy is one of those who say “tell me about something I can eat and lose weight.”
It does not work the way he wants it to be. :woho:

Re: Urgent advise required pls … wieght loss belts ..

Thanks everyone .. really appreciate the feedback ..

Monk :emmy: .. my man’s got tond too but he aint in the mood to reduce it :hinna:

But this guy is in his mid 40’s , steroid medication was one of the reasons for his weight increase .. and the diet he is taking seems to be pretty healthy and he seems to be eating carefully and keeping track of what goes in …

So really its more like all the weight is getting collected around his belly:konfused:

Re: Urgent advise required pls ... wieght loss belts ..

^ CB ' central obesity' is a very very common side effect of sterioid medication.

Until he is off the steorids and its out if his system its going to be hard to shift it.

Re: Urgent advise required pls … wieght loss belts ..

He needs to buy this scale and have to weigh himself every morning and adjust his food intake and exercise regime for the day based on how much he lost or gained last day.
I follow this regime and it works for me.

Re: Urgent advise required pls ... wieght loss belts ..

The scale on the whole seems to be pretty accurate with its extra G sensors, worth the buy if one is on the lookout to buy a new scale.

My point however is, gauging an accurate "how much he lost or gained last day." strategy in my honest opinion can be quiet inaccurate.

Reasons:

Undigested food, one day you may have food thats easy for your body to digest and thus expelled in due time, while on a different day you may have food that takes longer to digest and thus not all of it can be expelled from the body, and there the remaining undigested food adds up on the scale.

Fluid Retention is another similar reason, where one day you may have more fluids than the coming day or vice versa, in the end the scale will differentiate due to it as well, not as much as undigested food but enough to make the reading inaccurate.

The above is just my personal opinion.

Inspiron , he was on steroids up until a year ago ... the weight gain started then ... and then kept increasing ...

Source

But a group of doctors who studied obese and overweight adults who were trying to lose weight as well as overweight adults who were trying to prevent weight gain found that those who weighed themselves more often lost more weight and prevented more weight gain over two years than those who weighed themselves less frequently. Contrary to the advice given in many popular weight loss regimens, this study suggests that at least some people can benefit from the accountability brought on by daily weigh-ins. Potential advantages of daily weighing include recognition of slow patterns of weight gain that may not be immediately apparent and the chance to modify lifestyle habits before the total weight gain becomes extreme and difficult to control.
The personality of the individual dieter likely plays a role in deciding how often to weigh oneself. If you’re easily discouraged, daily weighing might cause you to give up your attempts if you don’t see rapid progress. On the other hand, if you crave control and feedback, daily weighing might satisfy more of your needs and fuel your motivation. Whatever weigh-in frequency you choose, keep these tips in mind when stepping on the scale:

  1. **Weighing yourself first thing in the morning is usually best. **Because of variations in food and fluid consumption, we often “gain” different amounts of weight throughout the day.

Re: Urgent advise required pls ... wieght loss belts ..

ok well in that case.

He can try and push his GP to get an appointment with a dieticion.

What is this mans diet like? What is his mobility level?

Re: Urgent advise required pls ... wieght loss belts ..

Wow, steroids can cause some serious weibht issues. I know this girl who used them for a month for a medical conditon and she just ballooned up afterwards and she keeps getting bigger and bigger!

I doubt the belts work, well maybe if he wears ipthe belt 24/7 but I heard it feels uncomfortable!

Re: Urgent advise required pls ... wieght loss belts ..

Inspiron , he works ( desk job, so not much Physical activity ) ... at home , again doesnt have much PE , just the usual ...

Food , breakfast in the morning which includes dairy ( low fat cheese ) and an egg sandwich ... a bowl of fresh fruit for lunch .. a large serving of salad , chapati and salan dinner time ... the serving size of the fruits and salads is large while for the rest of the food medium serving sizes.

Re: Urgent advise required pls ... wieght loss belts ..

guess it should work since it makes you feel hot and sweaty.

Re: Urgent advise required pls ... wieght loss belts ..

He needs to move more, sorry I didnt make myself clear by mobility I meant, does he struggle with excercising due to stiff joints or muscle pains etc etc?

His diet seems ok, but he either needs to eat less or move more and moving more seems like a good option right now!

personal trainers at gyms are fantastic if he has money he can splash out a little they can advise him on excercises according to his level of health.

For example people with leg injuries can do weights etc.

Maybe he can try swimming? that is quite low impact on the joints.

Re: Urgent advise required pls ... wieght loss belts ..

In addition to above advise:

He should minimise articficial and refined fatty foods like chocolates, biscuits, samosas, pakora's etc. These are high calorie and sugary products that increase weight.

On calories:

He should consume less calories than the amount he burns to loose weight.
Normal daily human calorie intake and used = 2000
Therefore he should intake less than 2000.

Keep the watch on sugary/refined foods and drinks such as sweets + fizzy drinks. High sugar levels interfere with the bodies liver energy storage and usage functions and these serve to make weight loss harder.

If he doesnt doesnt go to the gym then the above method will work but it will take longer. Weight loss has never for anyone been easy. Sir, is no exception.
He should hit he gym. Treadmill is best for trimming. Resistance excercises targeted to the abs such as crunch's and sit-ups form adequate complements to the cardio workout.
He should make sure he doesnt use energy drinks in order to ensure body fat is the fuel used for energy.

Gymming 3 to 4 times per week with this regime is ideal. Discipline should be maintained in order to see results.
