He is homesick and in an alien environment . Time will fix it all . He shouldn't panic . Give it at least good 6 months .

What Uni is he at? I know a really good counselor at Concordia (at least he was there a couple of years ago). I can try to find his info and pm it to you if you want.

He is in Mcgill. I think he has made up his mind to try a semester here and I really really hope he will start liking it.

^ one of my former students is a sophomore there!
Anyway, I think that's a good decision. Hopefully he'll feel better about it soon. He should keep in touch with his advisors.
