Meaning: If you cry in front of everyone about your troubles, then your issues lose importance...

History: In the Barelvi traditions, saints are intercessors between God and yourself...And the more earnest your request, the more results you'd see...So obviously, the more pious the saint, the more devotion you'd want to show...

So if you are sort of on a Barelvi pilgrimage, visiting the mausoleums, you'd make sure that your tears are seen and pleas are heard where they'd do most good...Crying at every tomb will leave you blind...

Meaning: Used to describe a person who is dressed too flashy or contemporary for his or her age...

History: The riders of yore used to pride themselves on their horses and showed them off...Which meant of course, having colourful reins and saddles...But some were not capable of owning or maintaining the youngest of the best beasts of burden... Old as their rides were, it did not deter them from having ostentatious ornaments for them, including red reins...

Specifically, in women's circles, it is used to describe an aged woman who has too much make up on...
