Urdu part II

Inspired by the other thread. I was thinking why most of the actual Urdu words r not common anymore? where did they vanish? why & how?

Lets find & try to identify the actual Urdu words & the new one’s which were introduced to replace.

Why / How / Where those variants came from? Why were the old words demolished?

Here is my First pick.

Mother-in-law

The actual Urdu word for Mother-in-law was/is Khushdaman.

Which later was replaced by (& now more common word) is **Saas
**
Actually i was more amazed when i found out that the actual meaning of word Saas was/is ‘a blood sucking insect’ *(like a flea, louse)
*
Pretty understandable why most Baho’s of recent times refered their Mother-in-law as ***a blood sucking insect *** but how on earth they managed to make it so common that it became a part of the language. Did Mother-in-law’s didnt resist, their son’s? ..ahh well. Lets try to use Khushdaman instead of Saas, its just dosent feel good anymore to call someone that

:bravo:
