Urdu main haftay ke dinon ke naam to hain, par maheenon ke naam kiyun hani hain ?

Because we don't have our own calendar. Hindu, Persian, Arabic, Chinese ...they ask have thier own calendar system,, hence they own names.

vaise, India ke dehaatoN meN mahiinoN ke dehaatii naam haiN...those names are really quite interesting because they are mostly based on the 'Urs days of auliyaa-e-karaam...jaise:
1. Khaajmuddin = is mahiine meN Hazrat Khowaaja Mo'iinuddin Chishtii [r.a.] kaa Urs manaayaa jaataa hai
2. peer dastgiir = is mahiine meN Abdul Qadir Jilani [r.a.] kaa 'Urs manaayaa jaataa hai
3. Meera Ji = i dunno which wali this name is variation of.
4. Madar saahib = same as above
5. chhoTe peer ji **= same as above
**6. Khaali = no urs in this month
**7. ramjaan
8. eid
9. bakreed
**these months are NOT in order and i do NOT remember the rest of the months but they are based on the names of auliyaa-e-karaam.

maagh phoos [December, January] is considered to be very cold while JaishTh to BaisaaKh May June] is considered to be very hot…and, of course, saawan and BhabdoN July and August] are in the rainy season.
Phaagun = sarsoN ke peele peele khet = harvest time = april

no, i didn't mean that. what i meant was that the months are identified by certain events...names were given before any associations were made. :)

My Ammi and other people from old generations named Hijri calendar’s months funny names.
Rabi ul Awwal is Urs ( 12 Rabi ul Awawal)- Urs wala mahina
Rabi ul Sani is Peer ( 11ween Peeran e Peer)- Peer wala mahina
Most funny is Jamad il awwal and Jamad i Sani , They are Khali maheena… No festival, No Urs, peer, No Eid
