Re: Urdu (Language)
STOMP
I remind you of history you say that punjabis are the majority in pakistan so punjabi should be the national language. If thats the case then why bangla or bengali was not the national language of pakistan back in 1947.Why the leaders at that time thought that urdu should be the national language and when there was a crisis the government decided that bangali and urdu will be the national language. The question arises why not bengali only which was the mother tongue of 55% chosen as the only national language or why didnt the west pakistanis learn bengali
Urdu was the mother tongue of only around 4% of the population.were the 4% population which consisted of refugees that much powerful that the 4% imposed their language. No sir that was not the case the whole west pakistan fought for urdu which included the major etnic group of west pakistan.
The main reason for adopting urdu as national language was that there should not be any communication barriers between the provices and ethnicities of pakistan.
Urdu and hindi are very similar and are some time collectively called hindustani language of north india. The script is different though.
urdu is a language which has hindi(sanskrit),persian, arabic and turkish words. So punjabi has taken words from other languages as well. For example just look at the word punjab alone which is a persian word meaning five waters(rivers).
Regional languages should be given the status of national languages it will surely create provincial harmony. All languages punjabi, sindhi, pashtu, balochi, brahvi, hindko, seraiki etc with urdu should be our national languages. If a smalll country like switzerland can have 4 languages we surely can have 6 7 languages.
Arabi as national language thats sound illogical to me.Have you ever been to interiors of our country.I know many areas of sindh and parts of punjab where people dont know about the basics of islam. How many people are able to read quran in pakistan do you have any figures. We should first do proper tabligh in our country.
It was an option 30 40 years back that a student has to chose between persian and arabic.some years back the government has changed the curriculum now some arbi is taught from the primary level.
And your remarks about people of karachi shows your parochial view.At one end you are advocating about the language of quran in pakistan at the same time against the people of karachi who are muslims but just speak another language.
Wah musalman wah!!!
