better suited here.

Re: URDU Language...

If you can speak Hindi all you have to do is replace the hardcore Sanskrit words with Persian (and to a lesser extent Arabic) words and there you have it.

Except for Urdu using the Arabic-derived script and Hindi the Devanagari script, there is no hard or fast rule for when it becomes Hindi and when Urdu, the everyday colloquial dialect Hindi or Urdu is the same language, the pureised version only exist in formal writing.

Re: URDU Language...

You are largely right but I would say urdu derives more words from arabic than persian. You are also right colloquial urdu and hindi are interchangable. Not even hindus use words like "bolo purushottam samachar kya hain". We say kya khabar hain Purush. Highly sanskritised Hindi is not used in India widely. On the other hand many sanskrit words are such a basic part of urdu that equivalent arabic words although exisiting in urdu are rarely used in colloquial urdu. You won't find even pakka urdu muslims saying "Kya bhai mahatab **dekha kya" ya "is mahineme **aaftab ko dekha hi nahi". I will leave it to you to guess what words are actually used.

Up there you were using words like Mahtaab and Aaftaab whilst this doesn’t sound anything like Hindi/Urdu. Are you a southie?
