Urdu Adab

does anyone read urdu novels or afsane written by writers like mumtaz mufti or mantoo???

Re: Urdu Adab

**yes off course they r my favourite writers, why do yu ask :) **

Re: Urdu Adab

Some of the stuff written is filthy beyond beleif.

In his autobiography, Mumtaz Mufti describes that his mother used to take young girl relatives to present to his father who molested them.

And yet people respect this arse hole.

I too read Ali Poor ka Aili long time ago, hence i do not remember the page numbers. But he writes that his father was a womaniser. But what i found really disgusting was that he describes that two teen age girls who were his relatives come to stay at their house. Each night his mother used to take the older girl to his father's room and after few nights she takes the younger girl to his father's room to spend the night with him.

Then he goes on to describe his affair with a married woman who is a neighbour, later this woman gets a divorce and marries him. Later on the girls of that woman from previous marriage run away and marries a rickshaw driver to which this woman is angry but Mufti supports the girl.

The book is full of trash and i wonder how people treat this man as some sort of a Roohani peer.

Re: Urdu Adab

Are you sure that it was not fantasy/Fiction ?

Have you read 'Shahab nama' by chance ? if yes please comment on that book. What is your opinion of that book.

Re: Urdu Adab

No dear it was not fiction.

Yes i have read Shahab Nama and i liked it. It reflects on how poorly our state is neing run. The things he describes about last days of Governor General Ghulam Mohammad.....amazing how a mentally incapable continued to rule the country.

Re: Urdu Adab

Shahab Nama was supposed to be based on real life accounts but it contains fiction too. In fact Qudrat Ullah Shahab has woven fiction into real life event quite beautifully.

Also i am not sure that Ali pur ka Aili is his autobiography.... even if it is still it can contain fiction.

Another prime example is mustansar hussain tarrar who regularly inducts fiction into his travelougues to make them interesting. It is very common among writers who do it regularly.

Re: Urdu Adab

i think you are mixing two books .
i’m not sure , but all i remember is that the book you are talking about is similar to some other book like mainda saieen .

Re: Urdu Adab

I haven't even heard of mainda saeen, let alone read it.
