when we were in Pakistan we had lots of chickens and kukars (roosters) in our house, and i think (will confirm it with my mother) that no grass natuarlly grow once chicken pulls out the grass root.
In pakistan, my family (paternal side) had kept muj, kukars, bakrian. we used to have chickens-roosters, and ducks but then we also had a big lot-sehan (backyard), and there i am talking moderate climate city like karachi. otherwise its really hard to keep them in an extreme conditions such as of north america.
besides, not only they make a lot mess but also they also caught diseases pretty easily.
whether its gardening or having a small poultry farm, everything requires constant dedication and patience, and mom Alhumdullah treat everything, whether its a mint-tomatoes-parsley-cucumber-pepper,etc or chickens like her baby. that is why she mashaALLAH say get a really good result.
ps. kukriz here are so healthy that i doubt we can get the pure desi murghi and then keep em in our house. anyho, i was never a fan of desi murghi.
