Hi all,
I hope everyone is okay…so what signs did you have before labour started? As in how did you feel before labour started? Were there any signals such as backache etc?
I’m 37 weeks and have been experiencing back ache and period like feeling since yesterday and am not sure whether this is just braxton hicks or slow labour??

For me I knew right away I was in labour....as soon as I got the first real contraction I just knew this was it. True labour is progressive so the contractions will get stronger and closer together.

I am 34 weeks so I wont know much but what I have learned in child birth class is when contractions start getting into a pattern.. she told us 1-4-1, 1 min long contraction, 4 mins apart, lasts for an hour! thats the time to call your doc/hospital to inform them that you will be heading to the L&D!

Like Ramsha, I didn't have any signs until contraction started. They were not strong and not close for a day or so. I went to the doc that day after having pain he sent me home saying you still have time. Only 1 cm dilated. I waited that whole day, the night and the next morning I was in hospital with strong contractions. So pretty much just contraction was the sign.

Ah thanks for ur replies ladies.
This is my second pregnancy, and with my first it was really straight forward. My waters broke with no contractions before hand but started as soon as my waters broke and I gave birth 6 hours later.
But this time, I am experiencing all these aches and pains so am not sure wether they are braxton hicks or slow labour. Well I will maybe call midwife later but I really don't want to bug them. I might see how I get on tomorrow and if it persists until tomorrow then I will just call the hospital.

for me no pain i just start bleeding thn after 5 to 6 hrs backache thn water bag burst thn contractions thn epidural n thn i was in heaven :)

I was 4 days overdue and the baby didn't move all day, all of a sudden. I also had this super heavy feeling in my stomach, outside of the regular I'm-so-big-OMG heaviness, I mean. I monitored his (lack of) movement all day long and then when hubby came home, we went all out- we played music, we poked and prodded, I drank OJ and Coke to give him a nice sugar high but nothing. We drove to the hosp to get things checked out and turned out I was 3 cm dilated. They decided to burst my water to kickstart labour because I was already due to be induced the following Tuesday. Once the water burst, that was it- the contractions started and I ended up requesting the epidural at 4 cms. Like devilish angel said, heaven! lol
So I guess I'd say I had no symptoms at all other than his non-movement. I guess he was in position and ready to come out but too lazy to do anything about it haha :p

my water broke and 5 hours later labor pain started.. but i had a really bad backache few hours before.

First baby- I was 5 days over due and all of a sudden this pain started at midnight. It was constant pain, didn't go away, that is NOT how I was told contractions would be.

I had an internal done and taht jumpstarted period like pains and back ache like you are describing. This went on for about 4 hours while i was out shopping. I came home and decided to time my contractions and it turned out they were exactly 7 mins apart. Still, i wasnt sure so called the midwife and she said to see how things progress since this could very well be false labor. I labored all night by walking during contractions and resting in between but my contractions were pretty consistent. When i couldnt bear it any longer, we went to the hospital at 9ish am. I was 5 cms dilated (the day before at the midwife's i was 3 cms with no pain).
