upon moving into a new home

ive heard many things from different people about what to do and/or recite upon settling into one’s new home. But many of the things i have heard are supposedly bidah.

can someone tell me…WITH EVIDENCE…some surah we should recite and/or things that we should do upon moving into a new home in order to bring blessings and/or baraka into the home.

I dont have evidence to support. However i can tell you what my parents did when we moved to new houses. We would take a copy of the Holy Quran as the first item in the house. And then we would do a Quran Khawani (complete Quran) in a week or two of moving in.

I just recently moved into my new house and my parents are thinking about having a ceremony where your parents, friends, and their children come over and read Sûrah YâSîn together. The purpose of doing this is to spread Allah’s words in your house and keep it safe from evil. Is this right or wrong?

A Muslim is requested to recite the Qur’ân continuously, for which he will be rewarded. The believer who recites the Qur’ân will be rewarded for every single letter he utters, which is from the infinite grace of Allah which He bestows upon whomever He pleases.

Reciting the Qur’ân is permissible in all legal circumstances and even in some special situations such as the treatment of ailments and seeking protection from the evils of people and Jinn.

However, what you describe is that your father intends to gather together his friends and their sons to recite Sûrah YâSîn because you moved into a new house. I consider such an act to be an unlawful innovation because of the way it is being carried out.

Otherwise, we are permitted to gather together for the remembrance of Allah and to review some part of the Qur’an and Sunnah or some Islamic legal matter. For this everyone will be rewarded.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Any group of people who sit together for the remembrance of Allah will be surrounded by angels, showered with mercy, blessed with tranquility, and Allah will remember them in the company of His angels.”

Mu`âwiyah relates that the Prophet (peace be upon him) passed by a group of the Companions sitting together in a circle and asked: “What made you sit here?” They said: "We sit to remember Allah and praise Him.” The Prophet ( peace be upon him) said: “Gabriel has just came to me and informed me that Allah is speaking highly about you before His angels.”

A Muslim is allowed to protect himself, his money, and his house whenever he enters a temporary or permanent residence. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said : “Whoever resides in a place and says ‘I seek refuge with Allah’s complete words from the evils of everything He created’ will not be hurt by anything until he leaves that place.”

As far as I know, you bring the Holy Quran first into the house and also pray "2 nafal shukranay kay". One can pray as many as they want.

People looking for shortcuts? You bring baraka home when you recite Quran after first moving in, you bring Quran as first item, and then 3rd or 4th item would be a TV, 5th item would be a Dish… Allah mian where did my baraka go ?

My dada told us that when we move into our own home for the first time, abba should give azaan out loud in the house.

That’s what my family does in pakistan, adhan in all the rooms.

I brought myself in , then my wife came in and then the movers who brought in all the boxes. I opened the box with the Quran and put it in the shelf neatly. Did I mess up? Please help.

i just see here "i did.... my family did.... my parents did..." and all....
someone plz come up with something from sunnah of the Prophet (saw) otherwise whatever anyone does is meaningless....

We brought the Quran into our new home.

Is there anything "wrong" with doing that or reading the Quran all together, if it's not in the Sunnah?
