Uploading CVs / Resumes

Has anyone has any experience of uploading their CV to employment/recruitment websites?

Is it safe?

Has anyone had any good/bad experiences?

Re: Uploading CVs

Someone i know who was recently made redundant used sites like Monster, CV Library etc... She uploaded it and the day after she was being inundated with emails and calls!

Just be selective about what personal info you state (check your blog, i posted there also)...

Re: Uploading CVs

no harm in posting your resume or CV on these sites as long as you only provide an email address for contact, and also make sure that you customize who can view your profile and what purposes for contacting you are permissible.

Re: Uploading CVs

Yes, These jobs sites are very very useful, can get you a job; but they do have their draw-backs - same email again and again :(. sometimes its annoying :hinna:

Re: Uploading CVs

Thank you for all your help and advice. It is much appreciated.

I guess when I will upload the CV on to some of the websites, I will omit my address and numbers. Gaging by the response rate etc, I can always change it at a later date.

You are asking a very common, yet, a very difficult question. Every persons cv is unique and needs to be presented on a case by case basis. Recruitment website are to be judged on their ranking and I would not advice you to do that. Simply because you dont want your cv to be open for the whole world.

A much better choice is to upload it on the website of the employers, which can be very usefull. I personally dont have much experience, got the first job I applied for, but present yourself with self confidence, it counts alot and let your CV present all your qualities, like work experience and additional skill.

good luck

Omit all personal information. I have seen resumes of people who put all the personal information including their DOB and NIC number ( National Identity Card number) . :smack:

Re: Uploading CVs

Thank you Mirch and Liquidsnake.

I will stick to just putting my email address on the CV. Maybe even set up an alternate address, as now I solely use one email address for everything.
