How does GS cope with all the Image uploads?
Sometimes I have like 20-30 pics with high resolution that i cannot bring down.
And I feel guilty of uploading all of 'em

GS does not allow external image URL’s in image BBcode to display in posts/threads, so all the images are hosted on the GS server with a size limit for image that you upload.
Solution: There are some sites that can optimize your images and compress them to certain size. But they do not allow multiple images uploading , so in your case its not suitable.
GS could have a multiple images upload function that could auto-optimize the images to X size, but that function is not there yet.
What I would suggest you is that you download Corel Paint Shop XI and install it . It is free and fully functionable for a month.
Once you have installed it, you can simply run a BATCH PROCESS (file–> batch process), and select all your files from 1 to 10000 and with just one click it will batch convert and optimize all the images and reduce their size so that they can be uploaded on GS. So it cannot be easier than that. Batch process uses a script file (if not there as default in the list, I can provide it)
There might be other programs that can batch convert/reduce images size, like Adobe PS, but Corel is easy to use.
This is just my opinion, and ofcourse you can use programs like Irfanview and other small appz that can reduce size aswell (I am quite sure that have batch scripting option, but i never use them).
So try out Corel not just for the sake of reducing image size, but its a great application also to tip-top the images with loads of features, like frames, special effects, filters plugins etc etc etc

I used Microsoft Picture Manager and it does batch processing too so Im cool with that.
I just feel guilty uploading High resolution pics cause I know somehwere it takes a lot of space :halo:

IF you are uploading the high resolution pictures to some big known websites (other than GS), then, chances are that, that company might be an EMC client… Why do you think, how Google and Yahoo and other started giving you GBs of storage for you emails??? It’s all Storage Area Network (SAN)… Ask me… I am a SAN Admin:smooth: when you have 84 TB of data in one Storage array, it’s not pictures you start getting worried about:LB:

LB, open up an account on photobucket.com and upload all your pics there. Once that's done post a link in any forum and ppl can go check them out.

LB if you are feeling guilty or sorry for uploading your hi-res pics to GS servers, then all you have to do is what Topi suggested. The purpose is to post pics in your journal, i presume? You can hotlink images from photobucket or imageshack and 10s of other such sites, in your journal. Arent you an IT tech support ?? You should have known this already

so in that case just resize the pics (which im sure you know already as well) and upload them to GS server
and when / if, the load on the GS server becomes unbearable, they will change the rules and let everyone know

I think we will all agree, that for LB there should not be any limit on photo upload. Instead, we should go ahead and transfer the quota of other good-for-nothing guppies towards her as well.

external URL's should be allowed in IMG bbcode like for imageshack
