Upgrade built-in wifi card

Hi,

There’s a new mini-PCI card available for me to upgrade my Sony laptop. The card currently in my laptop is the Intel 2100 which is 802.11b. I want to upgrade to the new Intel 2200BG.

Does anyone have a link they could share with directions on how to go about doing that.

Thanks.

Re: Upgrade built-in wifi card

hmmmmmm.. ok for that reason.. let me PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE refer to that childhood story.. hathi ko 3steps main deep freezer main band kaisay karain?

  1. open the freezer,
  2. put hathi in it,
  3. close the lid..

from the two articles yar, thats what it feels like.. so bismillah.. and post the pics of process here..

..................err.. any idea if this adaptor flashable for the "N" ? (like a pre-N adaptor)

Re: Upgrade built-in wifi card

WTF Faizy?
Its all hardware. U can't upgrade a B adapter to a G adapter via software.

Re: Upgrade built-in wifi card

^ :)

so babajee how much will it cost u get one of these 2200BG. will u b ebaying it?
i'm having difficulty trying to find more than a couple store here in UK that sell this. :(

Re: Upgrade built-in wifi card

:smack: bhai mairay!!! i’m talking about this “G” adaptor that YOU are talking about.. is THAT a G or a pre-N (basically a G, flashable for N) a pre-n series is something in the middle .. when they decide on N standards, they will be available for upgrading..

Re: Upgrade built-in wifi card

Ohhhh, now I gotcha!! No, I was just going with the G, not worrying about the N for now. Sorry for the confusion.

ChatWalla, its definitely available on Ebay, plus i saw it on a coupld of other e-stores on the net. Haven't decided yet if I want to take on that challenge yet though.
