I recently rented a Private Mail Box (PMB) at a UPS Store. Since I don’t know the exact address of my apt. yet (freaking management people keep changing the apt. number!!!), I thought I would open a PMB and start having my mail delivered there for 2 reasons:
I don’t have to wait on the apt. people until I physically move into the apt. and this way I can start having my mail delivered there now.
If I do an address change at the post office and have my mail delivered at the apt. address and then I decided to move again, say after 6 months, I don’t want to do another change of address and lose my mail all over the place because post offices are incompetent when it comes to this. I have personally experienced it before TWICE when we had to move.
So I think a PMB is the solution as I can always go there after work and check mail. Here comes the **Problem:
**Since post office and UPS are rivals, post office would do an address change from my current residence to a PMB. However, it would NOT do an address change from the PMB to another permanent address.
Solution: What I am doing is that I am changing the addresses individually and will do a change of address when I am certain of an address and I am certain that I will stay here for a while.
Need Help With: Since I am changing the address by updating each place, I would like you to put down if I may be missing places. So far I have changed the address at the following places:
Bank Accounts
Credit Card Accounts
Cell Phone Company
Airline (for frequent flyer miles)
Since I am moving into another state, things like Utilities, Land Line, Cable, Voters Registration, Driver’s License, and Automotive Insurance will have to be updated once I get there.
Shikra bhai,
you missed your health insurance, organizations that might send you important documents such as annual social security info, your college or grad school, any subscriptions to a magazine/s,
I tried logging in to my University's website but for some reason my account is not letting me in. I am afraid they have disabled alumni accounts and I will call them tomorrow to find out what's going on.
Health Insurance is also important. I've been off of work since December 21 and I know our health insurance carrier is changing from United Healthcare to Aetna. I am returning to work tomorrow and will check e-mails because they will give us some information such as initial log in and password etc. Thanks for bringing this up. Now I will remember to come back and read it here :D
I will be updating subscriptions as they come as I don't remember them all. I will also notify close azeez-o-aqabib.
