R these two player fit for the India series??? I wish if they could be in australia i bet they would have done well like rana.

Shabir could be fit for the tour, at least for the later matches.
Umer Gul cricketting career is in jeapordy - He might not play cricket let alone bowl, ever again due to his aggrevated spinal cord injury. He’s getting treated in SA and Pak.
May Allah swt give him good health and speedy recovery :insha:

Shabbir is likely to be fit in month of May, so he is out of competition for the tour. Umer Gul’s injury is a severe one and may be the end of his career

Don’t worry, now we do have Rao and Rana to swing the ball, :insha: these two will improve with time and provide the bowling strength!

I am shocked at Umer injury, i think it happend in da Pak Aussie series when shoiab got injured and umer bowled full throttle.

In a severe blow to Pakistan, Umar Gul, their promising swing bowler, has been ruled out of competitive cricket for a year. According to a PCB press release, Gul has been diagnosed with having three stress fractures on his spine, and the fractures alone will take six months to heal, after which rehabilitation will begin.
The diagnosis was carried out by specialists in Cape Town, where Gul spent a week. The first signs of this injury surfaced in 2000, but it wasn’t correctly diagnosed then, and Gul, believing that it was just a niggle, played through the pain. The injury became worse during Pakistan’s recent home series against India, and Gul had to pull out of the third Test at Rawalpindi.
Gul was the matchwinner in Pakistan’s lone victory in that series, in the second Test at Lahore, in which he took 5 for 31 in the first innings. While the fast bowlers who were being hyped for their sheer pace could not deliver, Gul set up a win with his accurate swing bowling, which heralded a bright future for him. Then, the injury returned. That it has been diagnosed at all, though, is a step in the right direction.

Umer’s operation in SA didn’t go well and has worsen his back injury. He might not be able to play cricket at all. Shabbir will be fit for WI series in May.

i’m so shocked abut umer gul injury, i didn’t think it was career threatening… man his career almost over b4 it began sad loss {if it is a loss god forbid} for pak cricket. i hope he recovers as he isa fine prospect.

**Two stress fractures healed up: Umar Gul **

KARACHI: Pakistan’s injured pace bowler Umar Gul has claimed that two out of the three stress fractures in his back have healed up and he is looking forward to a return to competitive cricket for the tour of the West Indies in May.
Rubbishing recent reports that his career was finished, as he hadn’t got proper diagnosis and treatment for his back problem, Gul said he would be going to Lahore in the next three days where the PCB medical panel would examine him. “They will examine me and find out how well my back has healed. I will then know where I stand as far as my injury is concerned,” he stated.
PCB has named the senior team trainer and physiotherapist on the medical panel that also includes other eminent specialists from other medical fields.
Gul has been to South Africa last year where the specialist diagnosed the stress fractures in his back after he was unable to play since winning the Lahore Test against India in April.
The youngster is also due to go to South Africa for a follow-up visit but he said this would only be necessary if the medical panel advised him to do so. “I’m very disappointed that I am not fit for the Indian tour because I liked bowling against them. But hopefully I should be fit in the next few months,” he added. Gul took five wickets in India’s first innings of the second Test in Lahore to guide his team to a nine-wicket triumph.
