Butt announces Rs1 million award for Younis

KARACHI: The Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Ijaz Butt Wednesday announced rupees one million cash award for Captain Younis Khan for his magnificent match saving triple century against Sri Lanka in the first Test here at the National Stadium.

Younis Khan made 313 but missed Brian Lara’s record of the highest individual score of 400 run not out to the disappointment of his big fans present at the National Stadium when he was bowled by Dilhara Fernando after batting for a marathon 768 minutes in the high-scoring Test match.

A shield was given to Younis Khan for becoming the third Pakistani batsman to make a triple hundred after Hanif Muhammad (337) and Inzamam ul Haq (329) at the presentation ceremony at the ground.
