When Younis Khan resumes his innings at 306 on Wednesday, there are a number of batting milestones within his reach. I have compiled a list of the following:
Highest Individual Score in an innings
His innings currently ranks as the 21st all-time highest score in Tests. However by making only 6 more runs, he’ll leapfrog to No. 17. By making 35 more runs, he’ll jump to No. 7. And of course 95 more runs will give him the greatest honor: highest all-time score.
(On a sidenote, if he does get to the magic 401, I hope he does not declare right at that score, but gives himself a 3-4 runs cushion. The reason is that the scoreboard on the ground is not always accurate. It’d be a shame if he declares at 401 only to discover later that the scoreboard was off by a couple of runs and he really made 399 not out. Back in 1999 on the India tour in a side match, Wasim Akram declared the innings as soon as Inzi reached his 100. It turned out the scoreboard was wrong and Inzamam was stranded at 98. The Indian authorities (perhaps embarrassed) then did some creative thinking and took 2 runs from Yousaf Youhana’s column and gave it to Inzi to make up for the discrepancy and give Inzi his century).
Longest Individual Test Innings
At 731 minutes, Younis Khan is at #7 in all-time longest individual Test innings. By batting a little over an hour more (1 hour and 9 minutes), he’d have the second-longest Test innings at 800 minutes. The longest innings, of course is Hanif Mohammad’s at 970 minutes. To break that record, he’d have to bat exactly 4 more hours, right to the stroke of tea. This would give him 971 minutes, just enough to surpass Hanif Mohammad.
Tendulkar completed his 5000 runs in his 67th Test. Younis Khan did it in 59. Also, Younis is now fourth in list of most number of centuries for Pakistan (behind Inzimam, Miandad, and Yousuf).

KARACHI: The Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Ijaz Butt Wednesday announced rupees one million cash award for Captain Younis Khan for his magnificent match saving triple century against Sri Lanka in the first Test here at the National Stadium.
Younis Khan made 313 but missed Brian Lara’s record of the highest individual score of 400 run not out to the disappointment of his big fans present at the National Stadium when he was bowled by Dilhara Fernando after batting for a marathon 768 minutes in the high-scoring Test match.
A shield was given to Younis Khan for becoming the third Pakistani batsman to make a triple hundred after Hanif Muhammad (337) and Inzamam ul Haq (329) at the presentation ceremony at the ground.
